UPDATED 7.49am: A man is being treated for a gunshot wound after he arrived at a Christchurch emergency department with an injury to his leg last night.
A police spokesman said the 30-year-old man made his own way to Christchurch Hospital with a wounded limb at 9.30pm.
TVNZ report that the incident happened at a private rural address before 9.30pm yesterday.
Police say the exact details around the shooting are not yet clear.
A scene examination and investigation into the shooting would continue today.
