An injured fisherman has been winched off a trawler north of Gisborne.
The man, in his thirties, was seriously hurt after being hit from behind by a large fishing bin.
The Rescue Coordination Centre got the call for help from the trawler, which was almost 150-kilometres north-east of Gisborne.
A helicopter has been sent to get him and the man is now being treated in Gisborne Hospital.
