A large plume of smoke drifting across Auckland's North Shore has been caused by a fire in the kitchen of a two-storey home.
The Fire Service has sent three trucks to battle the blaze on Palmerston Road in Birkenhead.
A Fire Service communications spokesperson confirmed the fire is in the kitchen and roof area.
Nobody was in the building at the time.
