A firefighter has been injured after falling through a staircase in a burning Grey Lynn house early today.

The firefighter was taken to Auckland City Hospital after falling through internal stairs fighting a fire at a home in Farrar St.

A Fire Service spokesman said the house was gutted in the blaze which broke out at 12.45pm.

Everyone inside the burning house managed to escape.

Three fire crews remained at the scene overnight.
