A firefighter has been taken to hospital after a piece of glass entered her eye during a training exercise today.
The firefighter was taking part in vehicle-extrication training in Ohakune this morning when she suffered what was described as a minor eye injury.
A spokesman for the Fire service says she was wearing full protective gear, including mask and goggles, when the vehicle's windscreen shattered and a small piece of glass entered her eye.
An inquiry is now under way.
The firefighter was taken to Whanganui Hospital as a precaution.
