UPDATED 7.07PM:Â Police have charged the man who allegedly caused the shut down of Canterbury's Work and Income offices this afternoon.
The 50-year old is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court next week, for verbally threatening staffers at the Linwood office.
He told them he'd be back with a firearm.
The Ministry of Social Development shut down all local offices, while police searched for the man.
They were closed for nearly three hours.
