UPDATED 9.29AM: An investigation into how a body washed up onto Auckland's Mission Bay Beach this morning is ongoing.
A man's body was found by a member of the public around 6am.
Police are trying to piece together events to identify the man, and notify his family.
A post-mortem will be carried out later today.
