West Auckland police are calling on all car enthusiasts to look out for an $80,000 Holden Commodore with a dodgy history.
Detectives have a warrant to seize the 2010 HSV GTS which has been fitted with a racing Walkinshaw engine.
They say the chassis was imported as a wreck from a car written off in Australia.
They suspect it's been rebuilt here using stolen car parts - and that includes the engine.
Detective Sergeant Callum McNeill says the man who imported the car is aware they want to seize it and may be storing it at a commercial premises in West Auckland.
