It was neighbours at war in the Auckland suburb of Ranui last night.
One man had his hand nearly severed from his arm in the violence last night, and another was tasered by police.
Police were called to Mili Way at around 9.40pm. Inspector Cornelius Klussein reports the street incident escalated rapidly following their arrival.
"The people involved were carrying weapons. There were bats, there was at least one machete and there was also a rifle used," Klussein said.
"One person was seriously injured with his hand nearly severed from his arm. The person that had the rifle had to be called upon to out the rifle down. When he refused to do that he was tasered."
Detectives will return to the scene at Mili Way this morning.
