Details have emerged of a horrifying case of ill-treatment towards an elderly woman in Taranaki.
Two people have pleaded guilty to the ill treatment of a vulnerable adult after the woman was found in a horrendous state in their home in 2014.
The woman, in her nineties, was found by ambulance staff in a room covered in human and cat faeces, as she lay on a bed with folded newspaper underneath her.
The woman was taken to hospital where it was found she had mould under her breasts and bed sores and wounds over her body.
Medical staff believe the wounds were at least three to four weeks old at the time of her admission.
The couple responsible for caring for the woman will be sentenced on October 28.
