Four teens have been arrested after fleeing police in Auckland in two separate vehicles early this morning, one crashing into another motorist - who then needed to be taken to hospital - and the second running from their spiked vehicle on the Southern Motorway.
Police spotted two vehicles of interest travelling in tandem and then exiting the Southern Motorway at Greenlane about 2.55am, a police spokeswoman said.
“The vehicles were signalled to stop, however, they fled from police and were not pursued.
“One of the vehicles subsequently crashed into another vehicle on Great South Rd.”
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital to be assessed, while the two young people in the fleeing vehicle were arrested.
Police wouldn’t give their ages, but said young people in this circumstance are considered those aged 13 and over.

Two young people in the second fleeing vehicle were spotted about 3am on Ladies Mile, with the vehicle spiked soon after as it entered the Southern Motorway at Greenlane.
“The vehicle was abandoned on the motorway a short time later and the two occupants fled on foot.
“They were located by a dog tracking team and taken into custody.”
