Two teens have been arrestedafter smashing a store west of Auckland before taking off on a moped.
The pair, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with burglary after the alleged early morning offending inParakai.
Waitematā North area prevention manager, Acting Inspector Roger Small said the crime was reported to police at 3.20am.
Police were alerted by the public to two people smashing the front window of a store on Parkhurst Rd.
Small said the Eagle helicopter tracked the “hooded teens” while they sped through Hellensville on the moped.
The pair rode down “numerous walkways and residential streets” before surrendering to police.
Police recovered cigarettes the pair are alleged to have stolen.
They are due to appear in the Waitākere Youth Court today.
Small thanked the public for reporting the alleged offenders.
