A New Plymouth teen found guilty of making an intimate visual recording of a drunk woman, will be discharged without conviction if he does his bit to educate others about the dangers of sex, alcohol and social media.

The 19-year-old videoed what he described as his “threesome adventures”, before groping the 17-year-old’s breast at a party in October last year.

The video ended up on a private Facebook, with two others made by another teen.

The judge told the man his conviction would be quashed if he spoke to students at two local boys' highs schools, about respecting women and alcohol, as a part of an educational programme organised by police.

He said he also has to donate a thousand dollars to the organisation, WellStop, before he reconsiders dropping his conviction on March 31st.

The man’s application for permanent name suppression will also be dealt with then.

A jury acquitted the teen and his mate of sex charges earlier this month, after an eight day trial.

A third young man, Jack Greenslade, was sentenced to community detention and community work in January, after admitting to also making an intimate visual recording of the threesome.
