A man who escaped custody almost a month ago has been found and arrested.

27-year-old Tauranga man Cohen Ratcliffe jumped the dock at the Tauranga District Court and ran outside before disappearing down the road on July 9th.

Security staff followed shortly after but were unable to track him down and police have been searching for him since.

He has now been located by police in Northland and will be appearing at the Kaitaia District Court tomorrow.

He had fled the court after entering a not guilty plea to a charge of wounding with intent and was about to be remanded in custody.
