UPDATED 12.17PM: Details of a chilling historic sex attack in Christchurch have been revealed after the accused admitted to it, just before his trial was about to begin.
Former New Zealand representative wrestler Devon Charles Bond pleaded guilty in High Court at Christchurch to six charges, including two charges of sexual violation and rape, abduction, aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon.
In May 1994, Bond entered the woman's Burwood home and cut off the power.
He threatened the woman, who was unknown to him, with a knife, before forcing her on a bed and tying her up with a portion of clothes line.
Bond then put a pillow case over her head before sexually violating and raping her.
He was not located until a cold case DNA match in 2014, and was questioned by police in February last year.
He'll be sentenced on the 28th of July.
