Updated 10.06pm: A large police operation is underway in Palmerston North, amid reports of a drive by shooting.
It's not yet clear exactly what's unfolding, but the Armed Offenders Squad has been called out and the city's police station appears to be cordoned off.
The ambulance service says it hasn't received any reports of injuries.
