Two people will appear in court today after ramming a police car in Island Bay.
Inspector Dave Rose says a patrol car noticed a suspicious vehicle up a long driveway in the Wellington suburb about 10.30 last night.
He says the constable got out of his car to investigate, and located the driver and another person in the car.
"As he approached them to speak to them, they began revving their engine. They then rammed the front of the patrol car, pushing it back and allowing the offending vehicle to flee."
Dave Rose says the officer called for back-up, a number pf patrols were set-up around Island Bay, and with the help of police dogs the pair were located and arrested.
They'll appear in the Wellington District Court today on a number of charges including drugs and firearms offences.
The vehicle had been stolen from Auckland earlier in the month, so they'll also face charges relating to that.
