Police are responding to an incident in the Auckland central suburb of Parnell.

A section of Judges Bay Rd near the entrance to the Parnell Baths is cordoned off.

A resident reported seeing armed police near the Parnell Rose Gardens and hearing gunshots on Judges Bay Rd.

A police spokesperson said police responded to a report of an alleged firearm sighting in Judges Bay Rd, Parnell around 9am.

A cordon was put in place while Police investigated.

Members of the public are not at risk.

Inquiries are ongoing and no further information is available at this stage.
