Police are seeking a man in relation to the country’s biggest ever cocaine bust.

The man may or may not know anything about the $14 million haul, police said, but they wanted to speak to him to see if he was able to provide any further information.

He was seen on CCTV footage leaving a central Auckland hotel near Albert Street, around 4pm on Friday and is believed to speak with a Spanish-sounding accent.

"If you are the man in the footage or you know him, please get in touch,” said  Detective Colin Parmenter, the investigation head at Organised Crime Auckland.

“At this stage we simply don't know who he is and whether he can assist us, and it would help us to know, so that we can extinguish this line of enquiry."

The 35kg of cocaine, packed in bricks, was found hidden inside a diamante-encrusted statue of a horse's head in May.

Detectives announced the find, a joint operation with customs, yesterday.

After weeks of intense surveillance and intelligence work, police swooped on Friday morning, arresting a 44-year-old Mexican and a 56-year-old American at Auckland International Airport.

A third man has since been arrested.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Senior Sergeant Parmenter on 09 259 1069. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
