Updated 7.18am: A dangerous police pursuit in south Auckland overnight.

Officers in Auckland were responding to an attempted burglary around midnight when they spotted four cars in convoy, at speed.

They pursued, and reached speeds of 90 kilometres an hour in a 50 k zone.

Police say they abandoned the chase when speeds became too dangerous.

They say two of the four cars collided with a median barrier shortly afterwards.

At least two occupants ran, and the remaining vehicles took off.

One has been found in Arbor Place, Clendon.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the chase, or has any other information.

Meanwhile Police have been kept busy with a second car chase in Auckland this morning after a stolen vehicle drove into a Newmarket store.

Officers witnessed a stolen vehicle drive into the front doors of the Footlocker store at about 5:30 this morning.

A second vehicle believed to be stolen fled the scene - but police gave up chase due to the dangerous speed.

Patrols have also located a third stolen vehicle crashed into a tree at Park and Kyber Pass roads that's thought to be connected to the other two.
