A 25- and 27-year-old woman have been arrested for stabbing and robbing an 85-year-old male in the Tauranga suburb of Greerton yesterday.

Tauranga Police say the two females approached the victim outside the Westpac Bank on Chadwick Road around 3:15pm, before stabbing him and leaving him in his vehicle.

A brief police pursuit last night ended with the offenders being arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

The elderly man is in Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition.

Police know the two women approached other people outside the Westpac Bank around the same time and are asking anyone who interacted with them to contact Tauranga Police.
