Police are searching for a 27-year-old Tokoroa man following a string of aggravated robberies linked to motorbikes sold on Facebook.

Moanaroa Kidwell is a known associate of the Nomads gang, is of Pacific Island descent, solidly built and around 180 centimetres tall.

Police say victims have been threatened at gunpoint on two separate occasions when they turned up at rural addresses across Waikato to pick up motorbikes.

Acting Detective Sergeant Paul Galletta says in one incident on the 17th of March a man was shot at as he tried to escape.

He says Mr Kidwell is actively avoiding police is believed to be driving around in a silver Subaru with the registration number EKY117.
