A High Court has heard two Auckland men accused of burning a 21-year-old man to death over his life savings used nearly $25,000 within 48 hours of his death.
Shivneel Kumar and Bryne Permal are on trial for the murder of Shalvin Prasad in January 2013.
The previous day, the Crown says the victim withdrew his life savings of $30,000 from a Manukau bank while Kumar waited outside.
Detective Simon Taylor says within hours $25,000 had either been spent or deposited into other accounts by Kumar and Permal.
He says of that Kumar spent nearly four thousand dollars on his car and put $14,000 into his parents' account.
