More charges are likely to be laid on the five people that have been arrested after police drug raids across the lower North Island.

Drugs, cash and vehicles have been seized after raids on nine properties in connection to the Head Hunters gang.

Detective Sergeant Shane Rongonui said the gang has a known reputation for orchestrating methamphetamine production and supply.

"The methamphetamine economy drives your house getting burgled, your car getting stolen and keeps the organised crime groups and their supply chains in business."

"In the past three years, police have laid over 1700 charges against patch members. As a result over a third of head hunters members are on bail, remanded in custody or in prison".
