Top notch security is on the way, to stop criminals on parole cutting off their monitoring bracelets.
A new bracelet model has been approved, and is expected to be tamper-proof.
Corrections Minister Judith Collins says she just approved a new secure model, and will be ready to publicly announce it soon.
She said she even tried to break one using some tools, but couldn't get anywhere with it.
Ms Collins said she's comfortable with the costs involved.
"There is always a cost, but it costs a lot less than it does putting people in prison."
New figures show between twenty and forty-seven offenders have slipped their bracelets at any one time.
