A woman will appear in court in Hamilton on Monday, after a man was stabbed at a home on Victoria Street earlier today.

The 54-year-old victim has undergone surgery at Waikato Hospital after he was found this morning with serious cuts and wounds.

Detectives are continuing a scene examination, assisted by ESR scientists.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson is praising the police staff who attended the incident, saying their prompt action ensured the victim had the urgent care he needed until ambulance staff arrived.
