A man who ripped two women's teeth out with pliers has been sentenced to six years in jail.

Philip Hansen was found guilty of six changes in the Wellington District Court last month, including wounding, injuring, male assaults female and indecent assault.

In a victim impact statement, one woman told Hansen how he had completely destroyed her.

Judge Bruce Davidson told him his offending was like torture.

"You removed one of her teeth again with pliers during consensual sex in the back of your car. At trial she described the crackling noise associated with the extraction of the tooth."

Davidson told Hansen be breached the trust of both women.

"Each victim was lone, vulnerable. The first victim was subject to a painful extraction of four teeth."
