Dunedin hot-tubbers have been left bemused after someone snitched their beach-side bath.

Andrew Last set up his friend's custom made hot tub on the beach in-front of his Waipuna Bay property near Port Chalmers for a pool party last week.

Last Thursday, night bath bandits managed to steal the tub from a neighbour's property, and Last can't believe someone would take it.

"Somebody will have spotted us having fun at the beach tub event and was struck by tub envy and then decided to sneak in the dark of night and load it up into a ute or a trailer or something."

Police are investigating.
