Emergency services are at the scene of a serious violent incident in the Hamilton suburb of Fairfield.
A Herald reporter at the scene said a large police cordon is in place on Douglas Crescent in Hamilton where a family harm incident is understood to have unfolded early this morning.
A number of people have been injured and posts on social media from witnesses and neighbours say this includes several children.
It is understood police, fire and ambulance have all attended the address and the cordon encompasses at least 10 houses.
Two paramedic bags, gloves and other tools are strewn across the front lawn of one property, which has police tape across it inside the cordon.
