A 20-year-old German who tried killing his Belgian girlfriend by driving off the side of a cliff in this country, has pleaded guilty to all charges.

Jan Falke has appeared via video link in the High Court at Dunedin.

He pleaded guilty to five charges, including threatening to kill, assaulting a female and driving under the influence.

A charge of attempted murder was downgraded to dangerous driving.

The incident happened on the Cromwell Clyde Road in January.

Falke has been convicted, and will be sentenced in the High Court in Dunedin next month.
