A Chinese businessman at the heart of a political scandal is finally getting his day in court.
Donghua Liu is at the Auckland District Court for a judge-alone trial, over accusations of domestic violence.
Liu previously pleaded guilty to the charges, but then withdrew his plea, with his lawyers disputing the summary of facts.
Former Minister Maurice Williamson and the Labour Party have both previously drawn heat over their involvement with Liu.
