There's been a dog attack south of Auckland.

A 13-year old girl's in hospital with serious facial injuries after she was mauled by a dog at her home last night.

Animal control officers were called to a Waiuku house around midnight.

A male Mastiff attacked the teenager biting her head and face.

It and a second dog at the property have been impounded and the district council is launching a full investigation into the attack.
