A French cyclist who admitted crashing in to and injuring a Christchurch pedestrian has been ordered to pay him $600.
24-year-old Cyril Millet pleaded guilty earlier this month to careless use of a vehicle.
The 54-year-old victim's hip was shattered when he was struck as he stepped out of his doorway on Manchester Street.
During Millet’s sentencing this afternoon in the Christchurch District Court, Judge Raoul Neave told him that disqualification usually applies to the charge, but because there was no car involved that would be an absurdity.
