Bag-snatchers could be targeting Auckland's North Shore and councillors will be meeting to ensure that's not the case.

The concerns come after the most recent event where an 88 year-old woman was left bruised and scratched from a bag-snatcher in Northcote.

The woman was attacked at the same shopping centre where Good Samaritan Lucy Knight was badly injured.

North Shore Councillor Chris Darby said elderly or not, people should feel safe to walk the streets.

"It is of concern to the Council..there might be a pattern that is occuring here..we need to get on top of that."

Darby said the council and police are concerned and will be looking into the matter in meetings next week.

North Shore police are appealing for information over the bag snatch .

Detective Sergeant Todd Bartlett is asking anyone who knows him "what if it was your Nana?"

The man's face has been captured on CCTV.
