A 22-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged early morning stabbing in central Christchurch.
Two people were left seriously injured in what police called a “serious assault” on Hereford St just after 4am on Sunday.
A man is due to appear at Christchurch District Court today, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
A police spokesperson earlier said: “Initial indications suggest those involved are known to each other.”
Two people were taken to hospital after the incident.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were notified of the incident at 4.09am and responded with two ambulances, one rapid response unit, and one manager to the scene.
“Our crews assessed and treated two patients, one in a critical condition and one in a serious condition, both transported to Christchurch Hospital.”
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything in relation to the incident.
