A Christchurch woman was kidnapped, detained, assaulted and raped over the weekend, police allege.
Luke James Henry, 31, has been arrested for the alleged attack which police say spanned Friday and Saturday.
Henry, of Christchurch, faces 14 charges including an allegation he unlawfully detained a woman, three charges of rape, two of sexual violation, assault, and assault with intent to injure her.
On Saturday, he was alleged caught by police after driving recklessly, failing to stop, and driving while disqualified.
He appeared from custody in the dock at Christchurch District Court this morning clutching an envelope of documents.
The court heard that he refused to see a duty solicitor and that he wanted to be self-represented.
"No plea on everything and get me remanded in custody," Henry told Judge Gary MacAskill.
He was remanded in custody without plea until September 22.
