A man charged with robbing a woman in Rotorua and stealing a car with a child inside has been remanded in custody.Â
The 30-year-old attacked the woman in Rotorua Central Mall on April 18, forcing her to the ground and taking $300 she had just withdrawn from an ATM, police say.
On April 24, he then stole a car with a two-year-old inside from near a dairy on the corner of Pererika Street and Old Taupo Road, police say.
Police later found the car with the child inside safe and well.
The man appeared in court on Saturday facing charges of robbery, unlawfully taking a car and abandoning a child under six.
He will stay in jail until his next court appearance, on May 23, where he can apply for bail and enter pleas to the charges.
