Police are en-route to Christchurch International Airport, where a plane's reportedly crashed as it tried to land.
A police spokesman says they were alerted shortly after 12.20pm.
The plane is reportedly on the tarmac with its wheels up.
Planes are still landing on the east-west runway.
Two occupants of the plane are safe with no injuries, a police spokespeson said.
There is no sign of fire.
Christchurch Airport's crash rescue team are at the scene and a fire truck's been sent from Fire and Emergency.
An airport spokeswoman said: "There has been an incident at Christchurch Airport where a light aircraft had a mechanical issue and landed with its wheels up, just south of the intersection of the two airport runways.
"The airport remains open and continuing to operate as work continues with various agencies."
