There's about to be a novel new way for Christchurch residents to watch a film alongside a brand new festival for the city.

Openair Cinema is bringing the movies to the outdoors for two weeks in mid-March.

It will be held in the city's new public space - Rauora Park.

Event manager Ryan Radford says there'll be something for everyone, with a range of movies, pizza, a bar, live music and DJs.

"Get comfortable under a bean lounger and a blanket and eat all the good stuff before watching a movie in downtown Christchurch under the stars. What better way to do it."

Radford says that you can even bring your dog along if you want.

"Sometimes we even have doggie beds available and even doggie donuts. It's just fun for everyone, and if they get to bring their furry friend along, it's good for everyone."
