The Christchurch City Council has voted to spend $220 million of its Government funding on a new stadium.
The Government set up the $300 million fund earlier this year to accelerate Christchurch's regeneration.
At a meeting today, the council approved the plan.
Of the remaining funds, $40 million will go on roading and transport infrastructure and $40 million on residential red zone seed funding.
Mayor Lianne Dalziel says it's about providing confidence.
