Despite the Supreme court victory for some Christchurch red-zoners, actual financial compensation is still in doubt.
The ruling on Friday deemed the Government's offer of half the RV value of their vacant, or uninsured properties in the residential red-zone were not lawfully made.
It's urged the Government to reconsider its compensation.
But Prime Minister John Key says it's a question of process, not dollars.
"Essentially it doesn't necessarily say it wasn't enough, it says process following the law around consultation needed to be followed. So it wasn't saying the amount was wrong, it was saying the process was wrong."
John Key is refusing to speculate on any potential compensation.
The Earthquake Recovery Minister won't say how long it'll take for the government to reconsider its offer.
Gerry Brownlee says he'll take legal advice, before considering the government's next step.
"In the end all I can assure people is that we are following a process that will see a resolution, and I don't want to do anything that will create a prospect of us going right back to the beginning with further judicial review."
