A Canterbury man who allegedly ran over a father and killed a puppy in an extreme case of road rage has been sent back to a psychiatric hospital.
Andrew McDaniel made a brief appearance in the Christchurch District Court this morning.
He’s charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and ill-treatment of an animal.
Police say he repeatedly ran over a man walking with his dog and family along the Eyre River in March
Judge Gary MacAskill remanded McDaniel back into the care of Hillmorton Hospital to await a psychiatric report to determine if he is fit to plea on June 24th.
