A Christchurch man convicted of groping patients still has the right to be called a doctor.
62-year-old Rakesh Chawdhry was sentenced to two extra months in prison in the Christchurch District Court today on two new charges of indecent assault.
He was already serving four years and two months for 11 previous charges, as well as one of sexual assault against male patients.
Judge Farish made a point of referring to Chawdhry as a doctor.
She says as he hasn’t faced disciplinary charges or been struck off and has the right to be referred to by that title.
