Another important step in the restoration of the Christchurch Cathedral, which has been derelict since the February 2011 quake.

An agreement has been signed between the Church Property Trustees, The Cathedral Reinstatement Trust and the company overseeing restoration.

Last year, the decision was made to restore it to its original splendour, at a cost of more than $100 million.

Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited Chair Justin Murray says although a clean-up of the site has already begun, and it's been a complex process to get to where they are now.

Three new Directors have also been welcomed to the Joint Venture Company today: Lindsay Crossen, Helen Trappitt and Anthony Leighs.
