A who's who in Canterbury will oversee the transition from CERA back to local authorities.

Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee has announced an advisory board on transition.

It will be led by former Prime Minister Jenny Shipley, and includes Christchurch mayor Lianne Dalziel, Chamber of Commerce chief executive Peter Townsend, Ngai Tahu chairman Mark Solomon and Environment Canterbury chair Dame Margaret Bazley.

The board will meet for the first time in January.
