Prices at Fonterra's GlobalDairyTrade auction have risen at the first sale of the year.
The price index was up 2.2 percent, with the average price at $4374 per tonne this morning.
The important whole milk powder price rose 4.2 percent to just over $4000 per tonne.
Butter was up 0.6 percent, and skim milk powder rose 1.6 percent.
