New Zealand will be doing its bit to help Fijians have a smooth transition to a democratic rule.
Foreign Minister Murray McCully has announced a five-member observer team will be on the ground for the island nation's first election since the 2006 coup this month.
The team, led by former Deputy Prime Minister Wyatt Creech, is to join the Multinational Observer Group.
Mr McCully says the team is a reflection of the importance we place on Fiji holding credible elections.
