Two absences from Warriors training three days out from their must-win NRL match against the Panthers.

Both fullback Sam Tomkins and second rower Feleti Mateo have both been away from Mount Smart for the side's training session this afternoon.

But coach Andrew McFadden says both absences are easily explained.

He says nothing can be read into it with Tomkins having a long standing engagement and Mateo a funeral in Tonga.

Andrew McFadden says he put the team through an intense session today and they responded positively.
