As Auckland cries out for housing, up to 700 new homes are expected to be built in a new southeast Auckland development.
Construction of a supermarket and the first 63 terraced homes is underway at Ormiston Town Centre.
The initiative is a partnership between Todd Property Group and Auckland Council.
Nineteen hectares of land is being developed.
The area currently has 84,000 residents, but that is expected to double over the next two decades.
The housing will range from terraced houses to apartments and properties which can be used for both working from and living in.
Developers say all the homes will be clustered around green and shared spaces.
