A Green Party leader hopes an Auckland rally is taken as a farewell to two far-right speakers.
Hundreds of protesters are waving flags and singing at a rally against racism in Aotea Square
The event was planned as a protest against Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux, two alt-right speakers from Canada who have become known for controversial takes on race, feminism and Islam.
Their event was cancelled at the last minute by the Powerstation venue.
Regardless, hundreds of demonstrators gathered, with picket sign slogans ranging from "Punch Nazis" to " I politely disagree with your views"

Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson is at the event, saying she has a responsibility to use her platform to speak out against white supremacy.
She says she hopes the speakers take the message that they're not welcome.
"This event is for us to find each other, is for us to work together and understand that there is an appetitive for people to say 'We don't buy your division any more. Aotearoa has no place for that sorry, you need to move on'."
